Program openEHR at ICT&health World Conference 2026
During the ICT&health World Conference 2026, openEHR will be prominently featured in multiple sessions focusing on vendor-neutral data storage, regional collaboration, innovation, and international best practices. Experts from the Netherlands and abroad will share their experiences and vision on applying openEHR in real-world healthcare settings.
Introduction to openEHR Netherlands
Speaker: Wouter Zanen
Organisation: openEHR Netherlands Foundation
A short introduction to openEHR in the Netherlands. This session provides an overview of the role of openEHR within the Dutch healthcare landscape and highlights current developments around open standards, interoperability, and collaboration.
Building Independent Systems: Vendor-Neutral Storage and Federation
The RSO South Limburg Perspective
Speakers:
- Remko Nienhuis - RSO South Limburg
- Gašper Andrejc - Health IT Consultant, Openline-Vitaly
This presentation provides an integrated overview of how openEHR and FHIR can support regional and cross-organisational health data sharing within the context of the RSO South Limburg initiative.
The session highlights the role of openEHR as a foundation for vendor-neutral data storage, federation, and interoperability, aligned with FHIR-based exchange approaches. By combining policy perspectives with architectural and practical insights, the presentation illustrates how federation can enable sustainable, standards-based health information sharing across a region.
The Power of openEHR-Based Collaboration and Innovation
This session explores three collaborative innovations in 40 minutes:
Cadasto - a fully openEHR-based Clinical Data Repository
Speaker: Sebastian Iancu
Organisation: Cadasto
An introduction to Cadasto, a fully openEHR-based Clinical Data Repository (CDR) platform.
No-code innovation with WEM
Speaker: Luuk Schellens
Organisation: WEM
A showcase of WEM’s no-code platform, demonstrating Advanced Care Planning (ACP) connected to the Cadasto CDR.
YellowBrink - international co-creation
Speakers: Bouwe Koopal & Jan de Lange
Organisation: YellowBrink
YellowBrink is an open international network for co-creation, built on shared knowledge and meaningful connections.
Transforming Care Across London with the Universal Care Plan
Time: 13:30 – 14:10
Speaker: Phil Koczan
Organisation: NHS
Role: Clinical Lead Universal Care Plan & Clinical Safety Officer
The Universal Care Plan (UCP) is transforming how personalised care is delivered across one of the world’s most complex healthcare systems. What started as a digital solution for urgent and end-of-life care has evolved into a London-wide personalised care planning platform, supporting people of all ages, conditions, and care settings.
This session explores how the UCP enables coordinated, person-centred care at scale by bringing together GPs, hospitals, community services, social care, mental health services, hospices, and emergency teams around a single shared care plan. Built on open standards and integrated with the London Care Record, GP Connect, and national services, the UCP ensures that the right information is available to the right professionals at the right time.
openEHR as the Foundation for a Shared Data View
Time: 14:25 – 15:05
Speaker: Daan Verbree
This session explores how openEHR can serve as the foundation for a shared data view in regional primary care. It presents a large incremental step towards a more interoperable, future-proof healthcare data infrastructure.
Open Health Data: From Hospital to Region
Time: 15:00 – 15:50
Health data that is available, accessible, and meaningful lies at the heart of the national vision for healthcare. In daily practice, however, data is still often locked inside EHR systems, limiting its reuse and value.
This session discusses how healthcare data can be liberated from institutional EHRs into a common data layer using open standards such as openEHR and FHIR - referred to as the Postmodern EHR. This approach enables new opportunities for innovation, improved interoperability, and data sharing, while simultaneously reducing vendor dependence.
Speakers:
- Anže Droljc - Business Development Director, Better
- Ann Ouvry
Conclusion:
Large incremental step towards a better future.
